Biomimicry in design: The University of Arizona's slot canyon building

UA's new Environment and Natural Resources 2 building – ENR2, on its urban Tucson campus – copies the slot canyon environment to create an inspiring, green space within a five-story structure. My article about this likely LEED Platinum building explores how borrowing from a natural, desert form (slot canyons) might be part of how inhabitants of the desert Southwest can cope with rising temperatures in the emerging, harsher climate.
